The New River/Desert Hills Community Association, Inc. (NR/DHCA) is dedicated to the preservation of our community and its rural life-style through being informed and providing broad input to a wide array of county, state and federal agencies and elected officials. We invite all members of the community to join our association, attend our meetings and be involved in decisions that shape our community’s future.
Some of the New River/Desert Hills Communtiy Association's key objectives:

Use the Maricopa County Comprehensive Plan. Maricopa County drew up this plan first in 1985 and then revised it in 1999 and again in 2016 to provide the County a specific guide for decisions by the Planning and Zoning Commission and the Board of Supervisors concerning growth development in the Daisy Mountain Planning Area (aka New River Planning area). This plan addresses Land Use, Transportation, Environmental Issues and Economic Development. Specific plan elements defined where commercial nodes should be, what roads would be major arteries, what natural features (like Daisy Mountain) to preserve, where hiking and equestrian trails should be and more.
Promote community collaboration – collaborate with Anthem Community Council, Friends of Daisy Mountain Trails and the New River Kiwanis for special events.
Provide input regarding concerns and opportunities related to Wireless Communications Tower Facilities.
Protect our Water Quantity and Quality – As in most parts of the west, water is scarce and needs to be protected. NR/DHCA monitors the issues and works with various state and county agencies in monitoring public health concerns and providing information. Now we are working with New River/Desert Hills Water LLC to provide a DWID for our area.
Promote Fire Protection – NR/DHCA is a source of information and action when needed and is in constant contact with Daisy Mountain Fire & Medical (DMFM).
Provide input to Road Development – Roads have been a constant topic of discussion – dirt roads, maintenance, new roads, safety, speeding, signage, access, etc.
Provide input to Zoning and Variances requests – As requests are received, the community association analyzes and responds, based on the intent of the Daisy Mountain Plan (aka New River Plan). Although the association has no official or legal standing, the Maricopa County officials have always listened and quite often have been influenced by our analysis of the local situation
Litter Pick Up – NR/DHCA has an agreement with the County to pick-up the litter on 7th Street from Carefree Highway to Joy Ranch Road at least two times a year. NR/DHCA has received multiple recognition certificates for this effort.
